Upon first impression, I was more than surprised with the quality of this instrument. It plays easily and evenly, even right out of the box. While I do prefer the tonal capability of the composite version, the ABS is a very good choice for students in their first years of learning. The low register speaks and sounds fantastic- very clear and in-tune while the high register is smooth and surprisingly accessible. The full range of the instrument is very easy to play.
It’s clear that much thought went into these instruments and everything that’s included. The body is extremely lightweight and the keywork is very high quality and smooth. You get every key that a professional instrument would have (high d, e, whisper lock).
Two bocals are included with very nice individual sleeves along with every accessory you could want; nice leather seat strap, balance hanger, an assortment of cloths and pull through swab, optional plateau key and more. The case is extremely high quality; very durable with suitcase style handle/wheels and the removable zippered accessory pouch is perfect for easily packing up to and from rehearsals.
My only complaints would be that I prefer a double-C (to facilitate an easier low-C#) and perhaps a more low-profile whisper lock but these are both personal preferences.
I highly recommend this instrument for students and beginning hobbiests. If possible, spend the extra for the composite body version but the ABS is a high quality instrument.
